Flowers From Fire
Photographs by Don Jacobson

Don Jacobson spent three half days, one in the fall of 2002, and one each in June and July of 2003, documenting nature's response to what on first glance looked like devastation. The glorious colors of the native wildflowers are symbolic of the rebirth of the forest. Numerous conifer seedlings blanket the forest floor. The fuel accumulations were cleansed. The Tahoe National Forest has an unwise salvage logging project for the Red Star Fire in Placer County. Comments on this project can be found at this website under Tahoe National Forest – current projects.

All seventy-two photographs are on a CD titled Flowers From Fire. Included on the CD are a PC screen-saver and a PC graphics viewer. Proceeds from the sale of this CD ($17.50 plus $2.50 shipping) benefit the non profit Forest Issues Group.
